Holt McCallany is in talks to join the cast of Warner Bros.' 1940s cop movie "The Gangster Squad."
According to Variety, Ruben Fleischer ("Zombieland") will direct.
Sean Penn, Ryan Gosling, Josh Brolin, Anthony Mackie, Michael Pena, Bryan Cranston and Giovanni Ribisi have been cast.
"Gangster Squad" is based on a seven-part Los Angeles Times article written by Paul Lieberman that details how, during 1940s corruption and chaos, the LAPD created a special unit called the Gangster Squad to prevent the East Coast mafia from infecting the city.
Dan Lin and Kevin McCormick are producing.
Former LAPD officer Will Beall wrote the screenplay.
McCallany starred as Patrick "Lights" Leary on the short-lived FX series ''Lights Out.''
