Liam Neeson has joined the cast of Warner Bros.' "The Dark Knight Rises."
According to Variety, Christopher Nolan is directing the third installment of the "Batman" franchise from a script he wrote with David Goyer and his brother Jonathan Nolan.
Plot and story details, as is typical with Nolan’s films, are being kept tightly under wraps.
Neeson played the villainous Ra's al Ghul in "Batman Begins" and, despite no official confirmation, is widely believed to be reprising the role for "The Dark Knight Rises."
The cast includes Christian Bale as Batman, Michael Caine, Anne Hathaway, Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman, Tom Hardy, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Marion Cotillard, Juno Temple, Josh Pence, Matthew Modine, Tom Conti, Joey King, Daniel Sunjata, Diego Klattenhoff, Burn Gorman, Brett Cullen and Chris Ellis.
Production is underway with shooting taking place in Pittsburgh, New York, Los Angeles, India, England and Scotland.
Christopher Nolan, Emma Thomas and Charles Roven are producing.
The film is scheduled for a July 20, 2012, release date.
