'Super 8' wins box office weekend

Paramount's J.J. Abrams sci-fi film "Super 8" won the domestic box office over the weekend as it debuted with $37 million.
According to Variety, 20th Century Fox's "X-Men: First Class" placed No. 2 for the weekend with $25 million.
The film has a domestic cumulative of $98.9 million.
Warner Bros.' "The Hangover Part II" finished No. 3 with $18.5 million for a domestic cumulative of $216.6 million.
DreamWorks Animation and Paramount's "Kung Fu Panda 2" finished No. 4 with $16.6 million for a domestic cumulative of $126.9 million.
Disney's "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" placed No. 5 with $10.4 million for a domestic cumulative of $208.8 million.
