Michael Pena has joined the cast of Warner Bros.' 1940s cop movie "Gangster Squad."
According to Variety, Ruben Fleischer ("Zombieland") will direct.
Sean Penn, Ryan Gosling, Josh Brolin and Anthony Mackie have been cast.
"Gangster Squad" is based on a seven-part Los Angeles Times article written by Paul Lieberman that details how, during 1940s corruption and chaos, the LAPD created a special unit called the Gangster Squad to prevent the East Coast mafia from infecting the city.
Dan Lin and Kevin McCormick are producing.
Former LAPD officer Will Beall wrote the screenplay.
Pena was recently in "The Lincoln Lawyer," "Battle: Los Angeles" and "Everything Must Go."
