By James Wray Sep 24, 2004, 0:28 GMT
Russell Crowe is has set his sights on making his directorial debut with a film based on the John Hepworth novel The Long Green Shore.
Set during World War II and centers on an Australian battalion's mission in Papua New Guinea. The battalion is charged with purging the island of the retreating Japanese but on arrival on the island, they are greeted with the corpses of Americans and Japanese.
Crowe would star in the movie as well playing either the commander or any one of the numumerous other roles.
Don't expect anything too soon on this though as he has plenty lined up meantime.
