Sony resets 'Elysium' release date

Sony has moved the release date of Neill Blomkamp's sci-fi thriller "Elysium" up one week from March 8, 2013, to March 1, 2013.
According to Variety, this will avoid having to open the same day as Disney's "Oz: The Great and Powerful" which Disney announced last week would open March 8, 2013.
Blomkamp will direct "Elysium" from his own script.
Matt Damon, Sharlto Copley, Jodie Foster, Wagner Moura and William Fichtner are starring.
Sony has picked up distribution rights for the film.
Shooting is set to begin in July.
Bill Block and Simon Kinberg will produce.
Plot details are scarce other than the film is set in a future world where social class determines one's fate.
