Ed Westwick is in final talks to join the cast of the new "Romeo and Juliet" film.
According to Variety, Carlo Carlie ("Flight of the Innocent") will direct the latest adaptation of the William Shakespeare classic about two teenagers from feuding families who fall in love and whose tragic deaths reunite their respective families.
Oscar-nominated actress Hailee Steinfeld will play Juliet.
Oscar-winner Holly Hunter will play The Nurse, who raised Juliet and is a conduit for her and Romeo.
Westwick will play Tybalt, Juliet's angry cousin who is always ready for a sword fight.
Julian Fellowes ("Gosford Park," "The Tourist") wrote the adaptation and will produce along with Garbiele Muccino, Ileen Maisel and Mark Ordesky.
The $15 million film will shoot in Italy later this summer.
There have been several film incarnations of "Romeo and Juliet" including Franco Zeffirelli's 1968 version and Baz Luhrmann's 1996 version.
Westwick recently wrapped Clint Eastwood's "J. Edgar" and is best known for his role on the CW's "Gossip Girl."
