Matthew Modine and Tom Conti have joined the cast of Warner Bros.' "The Dark Knight Rises."
According to Variety, Christopher Nolan is directing the third installment of the "Batman" franchise from a script he wrote with David Goyer and his brother Jonathan Nolan.
Plot and story details, as is typical with Nolan’s films, are being kept tightly under wraps.
The cast includes Christian Bale as Batman, Michael Caine, Anne Hathaway, Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman, Tom Hardy, Marion Cotillard, Juno Temple and Josh Pence.
Production is underway with shooting taking place in Pittsburgh, New York, Los Angeles, India, England and Scotland.
Christopher Nolan, Emma Thomas and Charles Roven are producing.
The film is scheduled for a July 20, 2012, release date.
Modine will be seen playing former Merrill Lynch CEO John Thain in the upcoming HBO film "Too Big to Fail."
Conti, an Oscar nominee for 1983's "Reuben, Reuben," was recently in Julie Taymor's "The Tempest."
