Universal has moved up the release date of their Snow White film "Snow White and the Huntsman" from December 2012 to June 1, 2012 in an attempt to beat Relativity Media's competing untitled Snow White film, which opens June 29, 2012.
According to Variety, Rupert Sanders is directing 'Huntsman' from an Evan Daugherty script.
Joe Roth and Palak Patel are producing.
In the retelling of the classic Grimm fairy tale, the huntsman (who originally is supposed to kill Snow White but ends up letting her go) becomes her protector as they try to escape from the evil queen who wants Snow White dead.
Kristen Stewart is set to play Snow White with Chris Hemsworth ("Thor") playing the huntsman.
Charlize Theron will play the evil queen. Sam Claflin ("Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides") will play the prince and love interest of Snow White.
Relativity's Snow White film has Tarsem Singh directing Julia Roberts as the evil queen, Lily Collins as Snow White and Armie Hammer as the prince.
