Jeff Bridges is in final talks to join Ryan Reynolds in Universal's adaptation of the Dark Horse comic "R.I.P.D."
According to The Hollywood Reporter, German director Robert Schwentke is directing.
The supernatural action comedy is being produced by Dark Horse Entertainment's Mike Richardson along with Neal Moritz and David Dobkin.
Phil Hay and Matt Manfredi wrote the script based on Peter Lenkov's comic.
The story centers on a murdered cop (Reynolds) who is recruited to work in the Rest in Peace Department (RIPD), a police force comprised of ghosts that battles spirits unwilling to depart the world.
Bridges would play Reynolds' wise-cracking ghost partner.
Zach Galifianakis had been attached to the role but ended up leaving the project.
