Zemeckis could take 'Flight' With Denzel Washington
By Adnan Tezer Apr 22, 2011, 21:17 GMT
Oscar-winning director Robert Zemeckis is in talks to direct the Paramount drama "Flight" that has Denzel Washington attached to star.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film would be Zemeckis' first live-action film since 2000's "Castaway."
Walter Parkes and Laurie MacDonald are producing.
The script, by John Gatins, centers on an alcoholic and drug-addicted pilot who inadvertently becomes a hero after saving his aircraft and passengers when the engine malfunctions.
After an FAA investigation finds traces of drug use, it attempts to bury the truth in order to maintain the pilot's public image.
Since 2000, Zemeckis directed "The Polar Express," "Beowulf" and "A Christmas Carol," all of which utilized the computer animation technique known as performance capture, where the movements of the actors are captured digitally and used as the basis for the animated characters.
