Set in post-apocalyptic America, the book focuses on 16-year-old heroine Katniss Everdeen (Lawrence), who must participate in a fight-to-the-death annually televised event called the Hunger Games, which pits youths against each other.

Shooting is set to begin in the summer.
The film will open on March 23, 2012.
