British rapper Ben Drew (a.k.a. Plan B) will star opposite Ray Winstone in the big-screen adaptation of the 1970s British cop show "The Sweeney."
According to Variety, Nick Love ("The Football Factory") will direct from a script he co-wrote with John Hodge.
James Richardson of the U.K.'s Vertigo Films is producing with shooting set to begin this fall.
The original series, which aired on ITV from 1975 to 1978, focused on two members (Jack Regan and George Carter) of the Flying Squad, a branch of the Metropolitan Police specializing in armed robbery and violent crime in London.
The series showed a more realistic side of the police, which often had a disregard for authority and rules as long it got the job done.
Winstone will play Regan while Drew will play Carter.
Drew appeared in 2009's "Harry Brown," opposite Michael Caine.
