Will Smith and his son Jaden Smith will team up to star alongside each other in an as yet untitled M. Night Shyamalan science fiction thriller.

This will not be the first time the two have starred in the same movie together. In 2006 they both lead the cast of the Gabriele Muccino directed drama "The Pursuit of Happyness," which was a critical and box office success taking over $300 million worldwide.

Doug Belgrad, president of Columbia Pictures, today announced that the father/son duo will reteam for the Shyamalan directed movie. Shyamalan and Will Smith will produce the film with James Lassiter, Jada Pinkett Smith and Ken Stovitz. The screenplay is written by M. Night Shyamalan and "Book of Eli" writer Gary Whitta.

Belgrad added; "Night is an outstanding filmmaker who has a tremendous vision for this science-fiction adventure story and we couldn't be more excited to be working again with Jaden after our experiences on 'The Pursuit of Happyness' and 'The Karate Kid.' We're thrilled to have the two of them together on this project."

The press release briefly describes the movie as set "1,000 years in the future, where a young boy navigates an abandoned and sometimes scary Earth to save himself and his estranged father after their ship crashes."

Director M. Night Shyamalam, whose most notable credits include "The Sixth Sense" (1999) and "Signs" (2002) commented saying, "The chance to make a scary, science-fiction film starring Jaden and Will is my dream project."
