Summit to do business with 'Alex Cross'

Summit has picked up U.S. distribution rights to "I, Alex Cross," an origin tale based on the books of James Patterson.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Tyler Perry will play the iconic detective-psychologist Alex Cross.
Rob Cohen is directing for QED International.
Patterson and Kerry Williamson wrote the first draft of the script, which Marc Moss will polish.
QED's Bill Block and Paul Hanson are producing, with Patterson, Leopoldo Gout and Steve Bowen executive producing.
Shooting is set to begin in June.
Morgan Freeman played Cross in Paramount's "Kiss the Girls," which grossed $60 million domestically in 1997 and "Along Came a Spider," which grossed $74 million domestically in 2001.
