Amy Adams to be Lois Lane in 'Superman'
By Adnan Tezer Mar 28, 2011, 17:47 GMT
Amy Adams will play Superman's love interest Lois Lane in Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures' untitled Superman reboot, opposite Henry Cavill as Superman.
According to Variety, the cast also includes Kevin Costner and Diane Lane as Jonathan and Martha Kent, the adoptive Earth parents of Superman.
Viggo Mortensen's name has been mentioned to play the villain General Zod.
Zack Snyder ("300," "Watchmen," "Sucker Punch") will direct.
Shooting will begin in August.
The film is set for a December 2012 release before Warners could potentially lose the copyright on the character in 2013.
Christopher Nolan will produce with wife Emma Thomas, as well as Charles Roven ("The Dark Knight") and Deborah Snyder ("Watchmen," "Sucker Punch").
David S. Goyer ("Batman Begins") is writing the script, based on a story he conceived with Nolan.
Plot details are being kept under wraps.
Superman is one of Warners/DC Comics' biggest icons, a major revenue generator for both studios through TV shows like "Smallville," videogames and merchandise.
Adams is coming off her Oscar nominated performance in "The Fighter."
Lois Lane was played by Margot Kidder in the four "Superman" films from 1978 to 1987.
Kate Bosworth played Lane in 2006's "Superman Returns."
