Warner Bros. has hired Oscar winning screenwriter David Seidler to rewrite the drama "The Judge."
According to Variety, David Dobkin ("Fred Claus," "Wedding Crashers") is attached to produce and direct.
Robert Downey Jr., who is not attached to star in the film, and Susan Downey have been brought on to produce through their Warner-based Team Downey shingle.
Seidler will rewrite Nick Schenk's original script.
The film centers on a big-city lawyer who returns home after the death of his mother to learn that his estranged father, a judge, is a murder suspect. As he discovers the truth, he reconnects with the family he abandoned years before.
Seidler won his Oscar for the original screenplay of "The King's Speech."
