Dwayne Johnson is no 'Snitch'
By Adnan Tezer Mar 24, 2011, 19:22 GMT
Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is in talks to star in Exclusive Media's action thriller "Snitch."
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Ric Roman Waugh ("Felon") is directing and rewriting an original script by Justin Haythe.
Nigel Sinclair, Guy East, Alex Brunner, David Fanning and Gordon Gray are producing.
Shooting is set to start in June.
Johnson will play a father whose teenage son is sentenced to 30 years under mandatory minimum drug laws. In order to have his son's sentence reduced, the father goes undercover to rat out a powerful drug dealer.
The story was inspired by a PBS "Frontline" documentary detailing recent shifts in U.S. drug laws toward federal mandatory sentencing minimums and how these shifts had, in turn, forced the guilty to snitch on others.
Johnson was last seen in CBS Films' "Faster" and will be seen in the upcoming fifth installment of the "Fast and Furious" franchise, "Fast Five," for Universal.
