Rapper-actor Chris "Ludacris" Bridges has joined the cast of New Line's ensemble romantic comedy "New Year's Eve."
According to Variety, production is underway.
The film will be a spinoff of Garry Marshall's "Valentine's Day."
Marshall is returning to direct, along with producers Mike Karz and Wayne Rice, and screenwriter Katherine Fugate.
The film will be set in New York and follow the intertwining romantic stories of several characters on New Year's Eve.
The cast also includes Robert De Niro, Ashton Kutcher, Michelle Pfeiffer, Hilary Swank, Lea Michele, Sarah Jessica Parker, Til Schweiger, Sofia Vergara, Jessica Biel, Abigail Breslin, Zac Efron, Sienna Miller, Jon Bon Jovi, Josh Duhamel, Halle Berry and Carla Gugino.
Biel and Kutcher were in "Valentine's Day," but those characters won't be part of "New Year's Eve."
New Line will release the film on December 9, 2011.
Ludacris was recently in Ivan Reitman's romantic comedy "No Strings Attached" and will be seen in Universal's "Fast Five."
