'Rango' rides to top of box office

Paramount's Johnny Depp-voiced cartoon "Rango" won the domestic box office as it opened with a strong $38 million.
According to Variety, Universal's Matt Damon-Emily Blunt thriller "The Adjustment Bureau" opened in the No. 2 spot with $20.9 million.
CBS Films' "Beastly" opened in the No. 3 spot with $10.1 million.
Warner Bros. and New Line's Owen Wilson comedy "Hall Pass" placed No. 4 with $9 million for a domestic cumulative of $27 million.
Disney and Touchstone's 3D cartoon "Gnomeo and Juliet" finished in the No. 5 spot with $6.9 million for a domestic cumulative of $83.7 million.
