Ayer teaming with Gyllenhaal for cop film
By Adnan Tezer Mar 4, 2011, 15:14 GMT
David Ayer will write and direct the cop drama "End of Watch," with Jake Gyllenhaal in early talks as the lead.
According to Variety, Ayer and John Lesher will produce through Ayer's Crave Films and Lesher's Le Grisibi's Productions.
No definitive plot details have been released other than that it will be a police drama that follows the friendship between two partners.
No production date has been set.
Cop dramas seem to be Ayer's specialty, having written the scripts for "Training Day" and "S.W.A.T," as well as writing and directing the Christian Bale police drama "Harsh Times."
He most recently directed Keanu Reeves in the police thriller "Street Kings."
Gyllenhaal was recently seen in the Disney adventure "Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time" last summer and "Love and Other Drugs." He will be seen in Summit's upcoming sci-fi thriller "Source Code."
