Warner Bros. has set up an updated remake of the 1992 hit "The Bodyguard."
According to Variety, Dan Lin will produce with Mark Bauch.
Jeremiah Friedman and Nick Palmer will write the script.
The 1992 original was directed by Mick Jackson and starred Kevin Costner and Whitney Houston. In addition to being a box office hit, the film also had a hit soundtrack that included one of the biggest love ballads of all time, "I Will Always Love You."
The film focused on a former Secret Service agent (Costner) hired to protect a world famous pop singer (Houston). His ability to protect her is compromised when he falls in love with her.
The male lead in the remake will be an Iraqi war vet.
Lawrence Kasdan, who would go on to write "Raiders of the Lost Ark" and "The Big Chill," wrote the original screenplay which was intended to be a star vehicle for Steve McQueen and Diana Ross.
