Shane Black nears a deal on 'Iron Man 3'

Shane Black is circling a deal to take over for Jon Favreau and direct Marvel's "Iron Man 3," with Robert Downey Jr.
According to Variety, Disney has set a release date of May 3, 2013, for the film.
This would follow the Marvel superhero ensemble film "The Avengers," which opens in the summer of 2012.
There are still some details to be worked out such as whether Black would write the script and when he would be able to shoot the film given that he is set to direct "Death Note" for Warner Bros. and is developing "Doc Savage" for Sony.
Black directed Downey in 2005's "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang," which helped relaunch Downey's career.
