By Adnan Tezer Feb 10, 2011, 20:28 GMT
Stanley Tucci has been cast as the villain in New Line and Legendary Pictures' "Jack the Giant Killer."
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Bryan Singer is directing.
Christopher McQuarrie wrote the most recent script, which begins when a princess is kidnapped, threatening the long-standing peace between humans and giants. A young farmer is forced to lead a rescue mission to the giants' kingdom.
Bill Nighy and John Kassir have also been cast.
No lead actor has been cast yet, although Nicholas Hoult ("X-Men: First Class") is considered to be the front-runner.
The film was originally to have begun shooting this past summer. Heavy special effects work, as well as a tight budget, have pushed the start date to March.
Tucci will be seen in "Margin Call" and Marvel's "Captain America: The First Avenger."
