Cobie Smulders to fight with 'Avengers'

Cobie Smulders has booked a role in Marvel Studios' ensemble superhero film "The Avengers."
According to Variety, superheroes Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, Black Widow, Nick Fury, War Machine, Hawkeye and The Incredible Hulk will team up in the film.
Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Chris Evans (Captain America), Mark Ruffalo (Hulk), Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye), Don Cheadle (War Machine), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow) and Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury) are starring.
Joss Whedon is writing and directing with shooting set to begin in April.
Disney has set a release date for May 4, 2012.
Smulders would be playing a Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division (S.H.I.E.L.D) agent that works with Jackson's Nick Fury, eventually becoming the head of the law enforcement group.
She is best known for her role on CBS' comedy "How I Met Your Mother."
