Halle Berry has had to leave New Line's ensemble romantic comedy "New Year's Eve" as she prepares for an upcoming custody battle over her young daughter with ex-boyfriend, Gabriel Aubry.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Katherine Heigl will replace Berry in the film.
"New Year's Eve" will be a spinoff of Garry Marshall's "Valentine's Day."
Marshall is returning to direct, along with producers Mike Karz and Wayne Rice, and screenwriter Katherine Fugate.
The film will be set in New York and follow the intertwining romantic stories of several characters on New Year's Eve.
The cast includes Robert De Niro, Ashton Kutcher, Michelle Pfeiffer, Hilary Swank, Lea Michele, Sarah Jessica Parker, Til Schweiger, Sofia Vergara, Jessica Biel, Abigail Breslin, Zac Efron, Sienna Miller, Jon Bon Jovi and Josh Duhamel.
Biel and Kutcher were in "Valentine's Day," but those characters won't be part of "New Year's Eve."
New Line will release the film on December 9, 2011.
