Niki Caro, who led Whale Rider, is directing the feature for Warner Bros. Pictures
Class Action, which also stars Frances McDormand, has no start date as yet. It was written by Michael Seitzman, based on Clara Bingham and Laura Leedy Gansler's novel, Class Action: The Story of Lois Jenson and the Landmark Case That Changed Sexual Harassment Law, about the first sexual harassment conviction in the United States.
In the drama, Renner will play Bobby Sharp, a man who works closely with a single mother (Theron) at the mine in their hometown. The two often clash over his view that women shouldn't work in such a demanding environment. Their disagreements push Theron's character to her breaking point, leading her to file a class-action lawsuit.
