By Adnan Tezer Jan 27, 2011, 20:39 GMT
Michael Fassbender will star opposite Noomi Rapace in 20th Century Fox's sci-fi film "Prometheus."
According to Variety, Ridley Scott is directing.
Fox is looking to cast one more major female lead with Angelina Jolie and Charlize Theron being mentioned as possibilities.
Damon Lindelof is rewriting a script originally written by Jon Spaihts from an idea by Scott.
Scott, his brother Tony, David Giler and Walter Hill are producing.
The film had long been rumored to be an "Alien" prequel before Fox called it "Prometheus" a few weeks ago.
Plot details are being kept under wraps but Scott said in a statement that the film will contain "strands of 'Alien's' DNA."
Fox has already set a June 8, 2012 release date.
Fassbender will be seen in Fox's "X-Men: First Class."
