'King's Speech' tops out with 12 nominations for 83rd Academy Awards

The Weinstein Company's "The King's Speech" came out as the early leader of the race for the 83rd Academy Awards with 12 nominations, including best picture, directing, original screenplay and actor for Colin Firth.

Fox Searchlight's "127 Hours," Searchlight's "Black Swan," Paramount-Relativity's "The Fighter," Warner Bros.' "Inception," Focus Features' "The Kids Are All Right," Sony's "The Social Network," Disney-Pixar's "Toy Story 3," Paramount's "True Grit," and Roadside Attractions' "Winter's Bone" are the other nine films that will compete for Best Picture.

The Oscar nominations were presented by Mo'Nique, winner of last year's Oscar for best supporting actress for her role in "Precious: Based on the Novel 'Push' by Sapphire," and Tom Sherak, president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), early Tuesday morning from AMPAS' Beverly Hills headquarters.

This year's Academy Awards ceremony will take place February 27, from the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood. James Franco, who is nominated for best actor for "127 Hours," and Anne Hathaway will host.
