Vera Farmiga has signed on to the cast of the feature version of Arthur Miller's 1955 play "A View From the Bridge."
According to Variety, she joins a cast that includes Mia Wasikowska, Anthony LaPaglia, Sam Neill and Sebastian Stan.
Robert Connolly is directing from a script by Andrew Bovell.
LaPaglia will produce along with Marion Pilowsky and Natalie Stevenson after securing the film rights and Miller's approval. LaPaglia starred in the 1997 Broadway production for which he won a Tony Award for the role of Eddie Carbone.
Set during 1950s Brooklyn, the film will focus on longshoreman Eddie Carbone (LaPaglia), his wife Beatrice (Farmiga), and their young niece Catherine (Wasikowska), whom they have raised since childhood. Upon the arrival of Beatrice's cousins from Italy, Eddie is consumed by jealousy and obsession that ends in tragedy.
Production is scheduled to begin in June in Melbourne and New York.
Farmiga was last seen in "Henry’s Crime."
