Robert Pattinson has signed on to David Cronenberg's "Cosmopolis."
According to Variety, Cronenberg also wrote the adaptation of Don DeLillo's novel.
Pattinson will replace Colin Farrell, who was attached to the lead but dropped out to shoot Columbia's remake of "Total Recall."
Paul Giamatti and Marion Cotillard have already been cast.
Cronenberg is producing with Paulo Branco of Alfama Films and Martin Katz.
The film focuses on a 28-year-old financial wizard and billionaire (Pattinson), as he travels through Manhattan in his limo. All he wants is to get a haircut at his father's barber but his travel is delayed by a presidential visit, an attack by anarchists and a rapper's funeral. As all of this transpires, he keeps a close eye on the value of the yen, with his fortune in the balance.
Shooting is expected to begin in May in Toronto.
Pattinson will be seen in the upcoming "Water for Elephants," opposite Reese Witherspoon and Christoph Waltz.
