By Adnan Tezer Dec 17, 2010, 20:37 GMT
Warner Bros. has purchased the rights to David Liss' mystery novel "A Conspiracy of Paper."
According to Variety, Ridley and Tony Scott will produce through their Scott Free company.
Danny Strong will write the screenplay.
The novel takes place in early 18th century London during the beginnings of stock speculation and the transition from a mineral-based currency. Benjamin Weaver, a former Jewish boxer turned petty criminal, gets mixed up with powerful men in finance.
Strong made a name for himself writing the script for HBO's Jay Roach-directed "Recount."
He is currently rewriting Warners' "EDF" and is reteaming with Roach and HBO on "Game Change."
Strong also appears as Danny Siegel on "Mad Men."
