Irrfan Khan, Gerard Depardieu and Adil Hussain have boarded the cast of Fox 2000's big screen adaptation of Yann Martel's novel "Life of Pi."
According to Variety, Ang Lee will direct the 3D fantasy adventure with shooting set to begin in January in Taiwan and India.
David Magee ("Finding Neverland") wrote the adaptation. Gill Netter is producing.
The novel tells the story of a boy (Pi) lost at sea for 227 days in a lifeboat with a Bengal tiger, a hyena, a zebra and an orangutan after the ship carrying his family and its zoo animals sinks.
17-year-old newcomer Suraj Sharma will play the title role.
Fox will release the film on December 14, 2012.
