Ben Foster and Giovanni Ribisi are in talks to join Universal's thriller "Contraband," opposite Mark Wahlberg and Kate Beckinsale.
According to Variety, the film is a remake of the Oskar Jonasson-directed Icelandic thriller "Reykjavik-Rotterdam."
Baltasar Kormakur, who co-wrote, produced and starred in the original, is directing the remake.
Aaron Guzikowski wrote the script, which follows an ex-freight ship worker (Wahlberg), fired for smuggling, who barely makes ends meet as a security guard until his best friend persuades him to sign on for one last illegal job.
Wahlberg, Kormakur, Stephen Levinson, and Working Title's Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner are producing.
Production is set for January 2011 with Universal releasing it on March 16, 2012.
Foster can be seen in the upcoming "The Mechanic" with Jason Statham while Ribisi was recently seen in "Avatar."
