Bryan Singer, who is directing New Line and Legendary Pictures' "Jack the Giant Killer," is lining up actors to test for the film in London within the next two weeks.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the movie was originally to have begun shooting this past summer. Heavy special effects work, as well as a tight budget, pushed the start date to March.
Christopher McQuarrie wrote the most recent script, which begins when a princess is kidnapped, threatening the long-standing peace between humans and giants. A young farmer is forced to lead a rescue mission to the giants' kingdom.
Aaron Johnson, Nicholas Hoult and Aneurin Barnard are the leading candidates for the young farmer role.
Johnson starred in "Kick-Ass." Hoult appeared in "A Single Man" and was cast in the upcoming Singer-produced "X-Men: First Class."
Barnard is a relative unknown that appears in the Medieval action movie "Ironclad," which has not been released domestically.
Adelaide Kane, Lily Collins and Juno Temple are up for the part of the princess.
Kane is an Australian actress who appeared in the popular soap "Neighbours."
Collins will be seen in the upcoming "Priest," while Temple has appeared in "Year One" and "The Other Boleyn Girl."
