Gerard Butler is in talks to star in Relativity Media's sci-fi adventure "Afterburn."
According to Variety, Neal Moritz's Original Films and Tobey Maguire's Maguire Entertainment will be producing.
Antoine Fuqua is in talks to direct with Moritz, Maguire, Toby Jaffe and Jenno Topping producing.
The film will be an adaptation of the Red 5 Comic title by Paul Ens and Scott Chitwood.
Matt Johnson ("Into the Blue") wrote the screenplay with Christian Gudegast ("A Man Apart") coming aboard for a rewrite.
The sci-fi film takes place a year after a solar flare burns half the surface of the planet, and treasure hunters return to retrieve important items that have not perished.
Butler just wrapped shooting on the Marc Forster-directed "Machine Gun Preacher."
