Patrick Fugit and Elle Fanning are in talks to star in Twentieth Century Fox's Cameron Crowe film "We Bought A Zoo," opposite Matt Damon and Scarlett Johansson.
According to Deadline Hollywood, Thomas Haden Church has also been cast.
Crowe and Aline Brosh McKenna wrote the screenplay based on Benjamin Mee's novel.
Julie Zorn is producing.
The film tells the story of a widowed father (Damon) who buys a neglected zoo and, with the help of his children and a loyal staff, works to create a sanctuary for breeding and raising endangered species.
Fox has set a Dec. 23, 2011 release date.
Fugit played Crowe's alter ego in his film "Almost Famous."
Fanning is currently shooting JJ Abrams' "Super 8."
