Depp and Marshall to work on 'Thin Man' Remake
By Adnan Tezer Oct 21, 2010, 20:13 GMT
Johnny Depp and director Rob Marshall will develop a remake of the 1934 classic private eye film "The Thin Man" for Warner Bros.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Warners is currently looking for writers to modernize the mood but keep the period setting of the Dashiell Hammett novel, which focused on former private detective-turned-alcoholic Nick Charles, his lovely socialite wife Nora and their schnauzer Asta.
The book saw the Charles couple investigate a murder involving an eccentric inventor and his strange family.
Hammett never wrote a sequel to the novel, but the film, which starred William Powell and Myrna Loy, produced five sequels. A 1950s TV show followed.
Depp will produce with his Infinitum Nihil partner Christi Dembrowski.
Kevin McCormick is also producing through his Langley Park company.
Depp and Marshall are in production on the fourth "Pirates of the Caribbean" film.
