Liev Schreiber has joined the cast of the independent hockey comedy "Goon."
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Michael Dowse is directing a cast that includes Seann William Scott, Jay Baruchel, Alison Pill and Marc-Andre Grondin.
Shooting begins next week in Winnipeg.
Baruchel and Evan Goldberg wrote the script, based on the book "Goon: The True Story of an Unlikely Journey into Minor League Hockey" by Doug Smith and Adam Frattasio.
Baruchel is also producing with David Gross, Jesse Shapira and DCP Productions' Don Carmody.
The film centers on bouncer Doug Glatt (Scott), who upon discovering his right hook and ability to skate, joins a floundering hockey team and inspires them to new heights.
Schreiber was last seen in this past summer's "Salt."
