By Adnan Tezer Oct 11, 2010, 19:28 GMT
Al Pacino will play infamous record producer Phil Spector in an untitled biopic for HBO Films.
According to Variety, David Mamet will write and direct the film.
Pacino just won an Emmy for his role as Jack Kevorkian in the HBO film "You Don't Know Jack."
Barry Levinson, who directed "You Don't Know Jack," will executive produce.
Spector created the "Wall of Sound" production technique of the 1960s, and produced more than 15 top-10 hits in the decade. The eccentric Spector was sent to prison last year for a minimum of 19 years for the murder of Lana Clarkson.
Pacino also played attorney Roy Cohn in HBO's 2003 miniseries "Angels in America."
The Phil Spector project will be Pacino's third with HBO.
