Kris Kristofferson swims with 'Dolphin Tale'

Kris Kristofferson has joined the cast of Alcon Entertainment's 3D family film "Dolphin Tale."
According to Variety, Charles Martin Smith ("Air Bud") will direct from a screenplay by Karen Janszen ("A Walk to Remember") with rewrites by Smith and Jordan Roberts.
The cast includes Morgan Freeman, Harry Connick Jr. and Ashley Judd.
Alcon's Andrew Kosove, Broderick Johnson and Richard Ingber will produce with Warner Bros. distributing.
The film has a September 16, 2011, release date set.
Principal photography is underway in Clearwater, Florida.
The film is based on the true story of Winter the dolphin and the young boy who befriends her after she loses her tail in a crab trap.
The story will focus on the boy who rallies friends and family to save Winter by persuading a doctor to create a prosthetic part to replace the dolphin's missing tail.
Kristofferson was last seen in 2009's "He's Just Not That Into You."
