Idris Elba and Johnny Whitworth are in advanced talks to join the cast of Columbia's "Ghost Rider" sequel, "Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance."
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor are directing from a script they wrote off a story by David Goyer.
Avi Arad, Ari Arad, Michael De Luca, Ashok Amritraj and Steven Paul are producing.
The film begins shooting in late November in Romania and Turkey.
Story follows Johnny Blaze (Nicolas Cage), a stunt motorcyclist who morphs into the vigilante Ghost Rider, in a battle with the devil (Ciaran Hinds) who wants to take over his mortal son’s body on the boy’s birthday.
Elba will be seen in the title role in the hit British detective drama "Luther," which premieres on BBC America this month, and plays Heimdall in Marvel's upcoming "Thor."
Whitworth recently wrapped "The Dark Fields" with Bradley Cooper and Robert De Niro and worked with Neveldine and Taylor in "Gamer," their 2009 action film starring Gerard Butler.
