Tony Gilroy will hunt 'Bourne 4'
By Adnan Tezer Oct 5, 2010, 19:14 GMT
Tony Gilroy will direct as well as write the fourth installment in Universal's Jason Bourne franchise, tentatively titled "Bourne Legacy."
According to Variety, while Gilroy's story arc would allow for Matt Damon to reprise his role as Jason Bourne, insiders close to the project have suggested that the studio will seek a new lead if Damon doesn’t agree to return.
Earlier this year, Damon said he wouldn't do "Bourne 4" unless Paul Greengrass, who directed the second and third films, returned.
Gilroy has written the first three films in the "Bourne" franchise.
He has directed "Duplicity" and "Michael Clayton."
Frank Marshall and Pat Crowley are producing, alongside Captivate Entertainment's Jeffrey Weiner and Ben Smith.
Universal is hoping for a 2012 release date.
