Franco picks up 'Adderall Diaries'

James Franco has optioned the film rights to author Stephen Elliott's memoir "The Adderall Diaries: A Memoir of Moods, Masochism, and Murder."
According to Variety, Franco is producing through his Rabbit Bandini company and could possibly direct, adapt and star in.
Elliott's memoir tells of his troubled childhood and tormented young adulthood, chronicling his substance abuse problems and an addiction to masochistic sex.
The book is set against the backdrop of the 2007 murder trial of programmer Hans Reiser, which Elliott became consumed with.
The book was published by Graywolf Press in 2009.
Franco has garnered strong reviews for his starring role in Danny Boyle's "127 Hours," that Fox Searchlight opens November 5.
