Paramount has set screenwriter Anthony Peckham to work on the script for their new Jack Ryan spy thriller.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Chris Pine is attached to star as Ryan, Tom Clancy's CIA analyst, and Jack Bender ("Lost") is attached to direct. Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Mace Neufeld are producing.
Adam Cozad previously worked on the script.
The studio is looking to reboot Clancy's franchise, which has grossed $787 million worldwide through four movies.
The reboot will focus on Ryan's early career and will be set in Russia, with terrorist acts as part of the plot.
The studio is looking to begin production late this year or early next year.
Peckham wrote Warner Bros.' Clint Eastwood film "Invictus" as well as the studio's "Sherlock Holmes."
