Kevin James is attached to star in an untitled comedy project for Sony.
According to Variety, Sony is looking at an early 2011 production start.
The film centers on a physics teacher (James) who takes a side job as a martial arts fighter to save his school's music program.
James will produce through his Hey Eddie Productions with Todd Garner. Allan Loeb is in talks to write the script.
This comes after several successful collaborations between James and Sony, including 2009’s "Paul Blart: Mall Cop," which grossed $146.3 million domestically and this past summer’s "Grown Ups," which has grossed $160.7 million domestically.
James stars opposite Vince Vaughn in Ron Howard's Universal comedy "The Dilemma," which opens January 14.
He also stars in Sony's upcoming "The Zookeeper," which includes Sylvester Stallone, Adam Sandler, Nick Nolte and Cher in voice roles, which opens July 8.
