Joel McHale is in final talks to join Jessica Alba in Robert Rodriguez's "Spy Kids 4" reboot for Dimension.
According to Variety, the film will start shooting next month in Austin, Texas. Rodriguez wrote and directed each of the previous three films in the series which grossed $360 million worldwide. The films starred Alexa Vega and Daryl Sabara as the children of superspy parents (Antonio Banderas and Carla Gugino). The new movie will focus on Alba who plays a retired spy who has been reactivated. Since her retirement, the spy has become the mother of a baby and two preteen stepchildren. McHale will star as a reporter married to Alba's character, the stepmother to his children. It is expected that Banderas, Vega and Sabara will return in supporting roles. "Spy Kids 4" has been set for an August 19, 2011 release. McHale stars in NBC's "Community" and E!'s "The Soup."
