According to Variety, Zac Efron is attached to star.
Efron will also produce with his producing partner Jason Barrett through their Warner Bros.-based Ninjas Runnin' Wild. Kevin McCormick will also produce through his Warner Bros.-based Langley Park.
Borenstein will base the script on a Wired magazine article by Joshuah Bearman.
The story centers on a con man who pulls off a series of elaborate robberies, all while pretending to be a good citizen.
Borenstein is also writing Warner Bros.' feature adaptation of the TV spy drama "The Man from U.N.C.L.E." His biopic about Jimi Hendrix, "Jimi," is set up at Legendary Pictures.
