Angelina Jolie to direct Bosnian romance
By Adnan Tezer Aug 27, 2010, 0:51 GMT
GK Films will produce Angelina Jolie's feature directorial debut, an untitled love story set against the backdrop of the Bosnian war.
According to Variety, Jolie announced the project last weekend during a visit to Bosnia to speak with government officials about the refugee crisis. She emphasized that she does not intend to make a political statement with the film.
Jolie, who will not appear in the film, will direct from her own script.
The film will tell the story of a Serbian man and a Bosnian woman who meet on the eve of the war and how it affects their relationship.
The cast will consist of non-actors from various ethnic groups from the former Yugoslavia.
Jolie will produce along with GK Films' Graham King and King's business partner, Tim Headington.
Jolie, King and Headington recently collaborated on "The Tourist," which stars Jolie and Johnny Depp. Columbia Pictures will open the film Dec. 10.
