Carey Mulligan and Bryan Cranston are in talks to join Ryan Gosling in the Universal action thriller "Drive."
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Nicolas Winding Refn ("Bronson") is directing Hossein Amini’s adaptation of the James Sallis novel.
The film focuses on a nameless Hollywood stuntman (Gosling) who also works as a freelance getaway driver during robberies. When a bank heist goes wrong, he ends up on the run with a price on his head and an ex-con’s girlfriend (Mulligan) in his car.
Marc Platt, Gigi Pritzker, Michel Litvak and Adam Siegel are producing.
Mulligan, who earned an Oscar nomination for "An Education," next stars in "Never Let Me Go," which Fox Searchlight will release on Sept. 15, and Oliver Stone’s "Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps," which Fox will release Sept. 24.
Cranston has won back-to-back Emmys for his work on AMC’s "Breaking Bad" and will compete for a third on Aug. 29. He recently wrapped shooting on Tom Hanks’ "Larry Crowne" and Andrew Stanton’s "John Carter of Mars."
